The Red Sox have signed 35-year old righty starting pitcher Ryan Dempster to a 2-year, $26.5 million dollar deal. Dempster pitched in 28 games (all starts) for the Rangers and Cubs last year in which he is 12-8 with a 3.38 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP. He has now pitched in 547 games (322 starts) in his first 15 years in the majors and he is 124-124 with 87 saves, a 4.33 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP. Dempster has been an All-Star twice so far in his major league career and he has won in double digits for the last five consecutive years. It will be interesting to see how Dempster does in the A.L. East, as he had trouble pitching in the A.L West last year for the Rangers.
